Placement of healthcare workers into further education at the Faculty of Health Sciences

Further education of healthcare workers includes specialization studies for performing specialized work activities, certification training for certified work activities, and continuous education. Further education of healthcare workers means increasing or deepening professional competence. Professional competence is increased by obtaining a specialization diploma and certificate and deepened through continuous education. Specialization studies are conducted within the established weekly working hours; if the weekly working hours are shorter than established, the length of specialization studies is extended accordingly (§ 72, paragraph 2 of Government Regulation No. 296/2010 Coll.).

According to Act No. 578/2004 Coll. on healthcare providers, healthcare workers, professional organizations in healthcare, and amendments to certain laws as amended, a healthcare worker can apply for inclusion in specialization studies throughout the calendar year with enrollment on October 1st.

According to Act No. 578/2004 Coll., as amended – the applicant may be enrolled in only one specialization study at one educational institution (not in multiple simultaneously).

The healthcare worker must notify of the interruption of specialization studies in accordance with § 70, paragraph 4 of Government Regulation No. 296/2010 Coll., as amended.

Specialization studies (SS) – required documents:

completed and signed application form for inclusion, signed by the healthcare worker
a sworn statement by the healthcare worker that they are not enrolled in a specialization study in another specialization field

Condition for inclusion

Indication of employment percentage in the healthcare facility = mandatory information + registration in the professional chamber

Curriculum vitae

Copy of the document proving acquired professional competence to perform professional activities as a healthcare worker in the relevant healthcare profession.

For applicants who obtained professional competence abroad, it is necessary to submit a decision on recognition of documents by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic for professional purposes (equivalence).

Exclusion FROM STUDY

REMOVAL of healthcare workers from the student registry of the Faculty of Health Sciences from the specialization field in accordance with § 70, paragraph 5 of Government Regulation No. 296/2010 Coll., as amended

Documents required for removal:

application for removal
specialization index, or return of the original decree of inclusion (if the inclusion was not recorded in the specialization index or the specialization competency index)

IN CASE OF TRANSFER

In case of transfer from another educational institution (change of educational institution), it is necessary to submit:

application for inclusion in specialization studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences
breakdown of the scope and content of specialization studies at the previous educational institution in the relevant field, including the percentage of employment under which the practice was performed
