APPLY FOR PHD STUDY AT OUR FACULTY
The Dean of FZV UCM in Trnava may set additional conditions for admission to individual study programs to ensure candidates have the necessary abilities and prerequisites. The conditions and method of verifying them must allow selection of candidates who demonstrate the highest level of ability for study.
A candidate who does not prove fulfillment of basic admission conditions at the time of verification may be conditionally admitted, with the obligation to prove fulfillment of these conditions by the enrollment date. b) Admission procedures.
The Dean of FZV UCM in Trnava announces at least two months before the application deadline the names of supervisors and dissertation topics available for application. Dissertation topics are approved by the Dean upon proposal from supervisors with prior consent of the field commission chair, joint field commission, and study program guarantor. For topics announced by an external educational institution, that institution’s name is also indicated. Each topic includes study program name, supervisor name, study form (full-time, part-time), application deadline, and admission date. Topics with these details are posted on the official notice board and distributed publicly according to special regulations.

Choose your field
Select your scientific field from the offered study programs at the faculties.
You can study full-time or part-time. Part-time study requires payment.
Check the conditions you must meet during your studies to complete the PhD. degree.
To study at the 3rd level, you must meet these conditions
- Master’s degree in Physiotherapy,
- part-time study requires concurrent continuous practice in the field,
- pass an oral exam before a commission,
- present on an assigned dissertation topic,
- demonstrate English language skills at B2-C1 level,
- provide a list of published works.
Contact the Science Department and Supervisor
It helps to find contacts at the relevant faculties and reach out to the Science Department for any questions; they will assist you through the admission process.
We recommend contacting the supervisor of the topic directly and meeting during consultation hours to discuss your research ambitions for the chosen topic.
Apply for study
When ready, submit the electronic application (manual for filling the electronic application).
Fill all required data and attach all documents. The dissertation project is a mandatory part of each PhD application.
Attachments to submit with the application (copies must be officially certified):
- Master’s diploma in Physiotherapy, diploma supplement (applicants from other universities must submit certified copies; FZV graduates send uncertified),
- Certificate of state exam (applicants from other universities submit certified copies; FZV graduates send uncertified),
- CV,
- Confirmation of completion of Master’s study and the title Mgr., including state exam average for ranking (send immediately after passing),
- Confirmation of continuous concurrent practice in the field – for part-time study only,
- Proof of payment of admission fee,
- Medical fitness assessment – from a general practitioner.

Prepare for admission exams, usually a personal interview.
Be ready to demonstrate skills and knowledge important for your field. The interview includes defending your dissertation project. It usually lasts 30 minutes.
After successful admission, come to enroll
After passing and being admitted, enroll personally at the university. Dates will be announced online and sent via email. We look forward to welcoming you to our academic community!
What if admission fails
We know admissions can be tough, but don’t give up. If you don’t succeed, you still have a chance to study at FZV UCM. Work on your dissertation project and reapply next year.
